Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic system of breath-based Yoga. This style, pioneered by the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois is rooted in the traditional teachings of Yoga and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally taught Mysore style. This means that each student learns independently, at his/her own pace, in a group setting, with personalized attention from the teacher.
BYCF offers two Mysore programs: one in the morning, and one in the evening. Oftentimes, people are confused by what Ashtanga Yoga and Mysore style are, which is why we are pleased to offer this workshop: Demystifying the Primary Series.
Join Elizabeth Sitzler for this two hour investigation of Ashtanga Yoga, the Mysore style method, and the Primary Series. Together, we will explore the asanas, theory, and history that come together to form this beautiful lineage and practice.
Elizabeth has taught in four Mysore programs throughout the Philadelphia area and is currently the Director of Mysore PDY in Haverford, PA, as well as a regular teacher (and student) at BYCF.
She has learned the Ashtanga yoga method directly from Paramaguru Sharath Jois at the KPJAYI in Mysore India, and from Jorgen Christiansson in Los Angeles. She has learned through the Advanced B series.
