90 classes and a new body, mind, life…

You may already know the yoga is a powerful healing tool. Read on to learn how it has changed life for one of our most loyal practitioners, Stacey.

Go, Stacey!!!

Hi, my name is Stacey Cutler and I am excited to share with you my journey that I have been going through since February 6, 2012 at Bikram Yoga Chadds Ford. I have been practicing Bikram for about four years, however, only making it to class once or twice a month. When I heard BYCF was opening a mile from my house, I was very excited to practice more often.

On Monday, February 6th, my life changed forever.

BYCF is a beautiful studio, with warm, welcoming teachers. They will be there for you throughout your 90 minute practice and even after class if you have questions. My favorite part of class is being critiqued while in a pose and told to push harder, beyond what I thought my body was capable of doing! It’s an amazing feeling!  The Yoga; “it never gets easier, you just get better.”

The 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, although the same every class, are yet so different each day. My favorite and least favorite pose? Well, it changes every day! They have helped guide me to learn how to deal with my busy lifestyle and everyday challenges that are thrown at me at my own business.  The practice has made me a much calmer person and has made my body as well as my mind much stronger.

When I started in February, every time I walked into the hot room I judged the person I saw in the mirror. She wasn’t good enough. She wasn’t successful enough. She wasn’t skinny enough. My postures were not good enough.  I practiced for a two months and then the 30-day challenge began. 30 days straight of 90 minutes in the hot room. Sure, I was up for a challenge. Little did I know, not only would it change me physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.  One major benefit I have experienced is my headaches are gone! Before I started practicing 7 days a week I had at least 2-3 headaches per week. I currently have not had a headache since March. On day 19 of the challenge I specifically remember looking into the mirror, i smiled and told myself how proud I was for practicing every single day, never giving up! I was also proud of the transformation that was occurring. My body was definitely changing along with my confidence, however, I will never forget day 26 and 27, two of the most challenging days I experienced yet so far. I had to really dig deep and I drew strength from my own clients. I would never let my clients give up. They were my inspiration on those two days. On day 30 of the challenge I had completed 31 classes! I was so proud of my accomplishment. I have become a much happier person in my day to day life.

In March I had my measurements taken and on day 30 I re-measured. Along with the yoga I had a clean diet with little to no alcohol and also ran and lifted weights 2x/week.  I have lost in total 16 Inches, 3% body fat, down a dress size and gained my self confidence back!

On Memorial Day, I completed my 90th class at BYCF. In class I stood proud and now when I look into that same mirror I love the person I have become. I look forward to practicing 7 days per week, and I naturally crave water, healthy foods, and nutrition filled snacks instead of sweet, salty and fatty ‘junk’ foods.

Thank You Heather and Megan, I am forever grateful for Bikram Yoga Chadds Ford, the sweating, the hard work and the community of yogis I have met over the last few months.

Best Regards,

Stacey Cutler
